Skincare after sunbathing
No matter how well you protect your skin, no suncream can provide 100% protection against UV rays. That is why skincare after sunbathing is just as important as sun protection.
The daily rise and set of the sun is one of the few reliable events in our lives. Despite this simple cycle that controls what happens on our planet, we often pay too little attention to the effects of sunlight on our physical and mental health.
The numerous benefits of the sun range from energy supply for photosynthesis to vitamin D production for humans. But as with most biological processes, the right dose is the decisive factor: Excessive exposure to sunlight is a serious health risk. Sunlight, especially UVA and UVB radiation, can cause sunburn, premature skin aging, eye damage, a weakened immune system, photo-allergic and phototoxic reactions, and even skin cancer. No suncream can provide 100% protection against UV rays. That’s why it is important to include natural after-sun care in your sun protection program to provide your skin with intensive care after sunbathing. After-sun products are specially formulated to meet the skin’s needs after sunbathing and contain moisturizing and calming ingredients to best support the skin’s repair mechanisms.

Free radicals
Free radicals are generated when UV rays come into contact with the skin. They cause a chain reaction of damage to skin cells, which leads to premature skin aging. Antioxidants effectively neutralize free radicals and can prevent the start of this chain reaction, which helps to reduce further damage that may occur after sun exposure.
Antioxidants
Since sun protection products do not completely block UV rays, after sunbathing, you should treat your skin with skincare products rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals and can reduce the damage caused by the UV rays that pass through your sunscreen. Highly concentrated serums with potent functional ingredients deeply nourish the skin. Our Gentle Balancing Toner moisturizes the skin and provides a wonderfully fresh complexion.
Hydration
After sunbathing, our body needs sufficient liquids – from the inside and outside. The longer you have been exposed to the sun, the more you should drink to compensate for the loss of water through the skin. But also fruits and vegetables, with their vitamins and secondary plant substances, support skin regeneration and contribute to a long-lasting tan.
How do After Sun Lotions work?
After Sun Lotions are rich in soothing, cooling, and repairing functional ingredients. They help the skin to repair itself and provide intensive moisture. Enriched with aloe vera and sea buckthorn, our Deep Restoring After Sun lotion offers intensive care and moisture to sun-stressed skin with immediate effect. Selective functional ingredients like chamomile and lavender have a calming effect and accelerate cell regeneration. Argan oil helps to promote skin recovery and elasticity. Comfrey is known for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, and sea buckthorn oil, which is particularly rich in vitamin C, E, and beta-carotene, favors a long-lasting and healthy tan and ensures a sun-kissed complexion.
Our inside tip
Our Ultra Hydration Serum performs miracles after sunbathing. It deeply moisturizes the skin and has a slightly cooling effect. Keep the serum in the refrigerator in summer to enhance the cooling effect. If your skin is very stressed, you can literally see how it “drinks” the serum and absorbs it in no time.
